Since Oracle 10g, SQL Profiles have been an integral SQL performance tuning feature. Profiles sometimes seem like magic, making a statement run faster. In this session we will dig into what a SQL Profile is, how it works, and some tips and procedures for everyday usage of profiles. Let's pull back the curtain and get to the details of how SQL Profiles really work.
In this session we will be providing details about Oracle SQL profiles. Utilizing trace data and some peeks at under the covers of the Optimizer we will describe how profiles impact the Optimizer. The session will also provide examples and commands on how to use profiles in a robust manner in daily operations of Oracle systems including lifecycle management. |

Gary Gordhamer has spent much of his career focusing on enterprise application landscape and business process digitization. His technical experiences range from Oracle e-Business Suite, middleware, database and related technologies for the past 30 years. His professional background covers many industries including healthcare, manufacturing, utilities, and government. He is an active member of the QUEST IOUG Database & Technology Community, serving on the advisory board. Gary is an Oracle ACE associate, and frequent presenter at Oracle OpenWorld and COLLABORATE. |
