Title: Oracle Graph and Financial Sector Fraud Prevention
Presenter: Valli Ramanathan
Organization: Freddie Mac

Summary: When working in a financial organization like a bank or credit card company one of the most important functions is to be able to identify frauds. Discerning suspicious patterns in financial transactions from the data is a key function of significance. Ability to identify Indirect connections to suspicious/fraudulent accounts & Circular money flows, indicative of money laundering is extremely important and difficult task. Last but not least we need to be able to Manage large networks of interconnected entities to be able to unearth layering (hiding money flows in large number of small, indirect transactions)

A lot of these if not all activities of fraud detections can be achieved by graphical visualization of the data which we achieved by leveraging Oracle graph. Graph technologies have become a groundbreaking way for organizations everywhere to address uses that other methods simply can’t address in an efficient manner. Graphs capture relationships and connections between data entities Oracle provides an in-memory server to hold the graph format. This enables easy access of data and supports high speed run of analytics on the data. The configuration requires few easy steps, and your database can be effectively visualized. Having graph technologies in Oracle Database and Oracle Autonomous Database provides scalability, performance, and security. Customers can leverage upwards of 50+ graph built in algorithms.
