Title: |
APEX & ORDS for DBAs and System Admins - 2025 Update |
Presenter: |
Richard Soule |
Organization: |
Insum |
|
Summary: |
"Hey, can you set up APEX for me? It's easy, all you do is install APEX and ORDS and then it's ready to go." says the developer to the DBA and System Admins.
Unfortunately, all too often, the answer is not "Yes" but instead "But what about security?" followed by, "What about this, or that, or this other thing?".
If you are a developer who wants to be able to understand how APEX and ORDS work at a technical level, or a DBA/System Admin who has never implemented APEX or ORDS, or an experienced DBA/System Admin who would like to learn how to maintain APEX and ORDS in a more supportable and maintainable way, this session is for you. |

Biographical Sketch: |
I started working with Oracle in the early 1990s, using Oracle 6 and character mode Oracle Forms and Reports.
Over the years I've worked for Oracle (about 15 years including 5.5 years as a Principal Product Manager for WebDB and Oracle Portal), Oracle resellers, and Oracle consulting firms including C2 Consulting and Insum (the world's largest APEX consulting firm outside of Oracle itself). Additionally, I gave back to the community by teaching Oracle DBA courses at Austin Community College.
Currently I'm the Director of Consulting Services at Insum where I manage a team of the sof the best APEX developers in the world and assist many clients with Oracle architecture, database administration, middleware administration, SQL tuning, and more. |
Accomplishments: |
I've been presenting for decades, won the best APEX track presentation at Kscope, and was recognized as one of the top 10 presenters at the Oracle Customer Visit Center. |
